Painters Savoyards / Henri Mège

Henri Mège (1904-1984) - Born in 1904 in Romans, it is formed very early in the paint thanks to his mother Isabelle Mège. By observing sessions painting her mother and aiming museums in his company, it acquires the foundation for his painting. Finished in 1918 in Chambery, then a young high school student, he stands out in caricaturing its teachers. He met the son of the painter Artigue and became acquainted with Lucien Poignant, too, who loves painting. Like his father he embrace a career in the military and fleeing from its majority paternal authority, he joined the hunters on horseback. In 1931, his career took him in Indochina where he met, Emperor Bao Dai and befriends Vietnamese painter Mai-Thu. He married the niece of the last viceroy of Tonkin. During this period, he finds time to paint, affected by Indochina. Prisoner in 1940 by the Japanese, which weakened and once free is appointed professor in Saigon from 1950 to 1956. As a result he returned to Chambery to spend his retirement. His free time allows him to produce many paintings he exhibited at the gallery including Mollens. These subjects are landscapes predilections Vietnamese and Savoyard. His painting was made in large part with a knife. For small strokes, it marks his worries details and develop a color palette of its own in the autumn hues.
