Sonia Cariffa or Sonca (1897-1989) - Born in Chamoux-sur-Gelon in 1897, she was the wife of painter Francis Cariffa. Living his life as an artist in the shadow of that of her husband, it is nonetheless true that his artistic sensibility is most certain. She exerted her art very often pastel. She likes to represent landscapes Savoyard vouir rarely Orientalists Moroccan villages and unlike her husband lost from the mountain. She also painted characters like natures dead. Finally it explores new avenues in attempting to paint colorful forms improbable but offers a balance, these creations unclassifiable, a real move most welcome. It states in the Savoie region, but also in Paris, Lyon, Grenoble. He signs all his works to his first name Sonca.
