Painters Savoyards / François Cachoud
François Charles Cachoud (1866-1943) - Born in Chambery in 1866, he left the study at the age of 17 to enter the administration of bridges and shoes. He was met by the watercolourist Ernest Filliard with whom he will follow the course of Benedict Molin. The city council granted him a scholarship to attend courses at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where he shared an apartment with the sculptor Savoyard March Vallett. Then age 23, he learned the basics of painting with successively by Elie Delaunay and Gustave Moreau. It will cover all technical drawing, pastel, oil painting and represent a wide range of topics ranging from portrait to landscape. Life between Paris and Chambéry, 24 years since he began to exhibit at the gallery chambérienne Laurent Janin. The year 1905 will be a turning point in his career, because he realizes he is the painter of the night and darkness. These nocturnal sell successfully.
