Painters Savoyards / Ange Abrate
Angelo (dit Ange) Abrate (1900-1985) - Born in Turin in 1900, the son of a family Piedmont had a very turbulent youth. At eight he left Italy to live in Marseille, his parents were low conditions they work hard. His 16-year-old mark his return to Turin. He now leads the double life of mountaineer and steelworker. His passion for the mountains has no limits, he joined the Italian Alpine Club and then became a member of Caf and the platoon gendarmerie High mountain in Chamonix. He is a self-taught, his training is his reading, his sense of observation, his passion for the natural elements. The worker becomes labor force confirmed an industrial designer. He exhibited for the first time at the Alpine Club of Turin where there was a success. The following exhibitions, Chamonix in 1927 and Turin in 1928 confirm this trend. Inventive, he imagines a system allowing it to dry his paintings in his backpack, which were carried out at altitude and it carries during his ascents… He painted the mountain snow. Until 1944, he painted with a knife except for its skies. His country was in his mountain s'établi it first in Courmayeur in 1933 and then in Sallanches. He stayed in mongues period in Chamonix and Zermatt. He is friends with painters like Francis Cariffa, Joseph Cesare Communal and Maggi. Painter confirmed he was also an ambassador of the mountain painting by making known painters of the mountain especially in Paris, a cultural centre par excellence.
