Painters Savoyards / Marcel Mergier
Marcel Mergier (1884-1974) - Born in 1884 in Périgueux, talented painting he did his training in painting at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. In 1906 he leaves the first Thanksgiving in the execution in painting a portrait. Thus all destined to become portraitist. Soon his works have success. However, he decided to leave very early portraits to devote himself to landscapes. He became professor of design in 1908. In 1921, he was appointed to Chambery which will remain there throughout the war between the two. Its usual Sunday to paint panoramas of the Savoie with an easel planted on the outside. He likes to represent the Maurienne Area Chambéry and many other places, taking care to include people, animals, houses, in short local life as a whole without any distinction for him it is to represent an indivisible whole truth retracing men and their environment. His technique, the practice of painting influenced painters alongside it on the spot. He is a friend of painters Cariffa and Deschelles and the painter Lucien Poignant who was his student. He made numerous exhibition in the company of this community of painters who represents the school Savoyard par excellence. He lived in Paris from 1952 to 1960. At the end of his life, he became president of the association of painters mountain. It is the museum curator of educational rue d'Ulm.
